Pilgrim Partner Support Program

Unite Adelaide partner's up with WYD pilgrims in Vietnam.

The PPSP is being officially supported by Unite Adelaide's fundraising drive for WYD08 pilgrims in Vietnam.

The 20 pilgrims group will join the Vietnamese catholic Community in Pooraka for Adelaide's Days in the Diocese and head onto Sydney for WYD08.

Unite Adelaide's fundraising cause is called "Go An Extra Mile," whereby Catherine Burke (picture below) is going to ride her bike from Adelaide to Sydney to raise money for the PPSP.

Most feel some apprehension at the thought of driving to Sydney, but uni student Catherine Burke plans to go one step (or pedal) further and do it on her bicycle. In a colossal fund-raising ride, Catherine will pedal out of Adelaide in late June 2008, making it to Sydney in time for World Youth Day. The ride will raise funds to bring a group of pilgrims from Vietnam to Adelaide for Days in the Diocese and then on to Sydney for WYD. The project will also support Indigenous pilgrims from the Tiwi Islands to come to World Youth Day.

Catherine will visit towns and parishes along the way, building support for WYD. Her journey has been split into individual miles which can be bought by parishes and individuals wishing to contribute to the cause. Behind the ride is diocesan group Unite Adelaide, which runs monthly meetings for young adults. Unite Adelaide aims to send a group of youth to visit the Vietnamese and Tiwi people in their home parishes to mark the 1 year anniversary of World Youth Day in 2009. If you would like to be involved, email us UniteAdelaide@gmail.com

Also, keep an eye out for the Unite Adelaide team visiting your parish to promote the project.

Newman's Corner

Matthew Newman was ordained a Deacon Thursday December 20 at the Cathedral at 7pm.

Newman's Corner features Deacon Matthew as he imparts great wisdom (note: be warned of his humour) along his journey towards priesthood.

Matthew is a enlightening speaker, and we are very blessed to have him as the resident presenter for Unite Adelaide.

Congratulations Matthew!

JCI unites Adelaide

The JCI in Adelaide was a beautiful portrayal of our community spirit and the spirit of WYD.
Well done to all who were involved.
Please post your comments and stories regarding the JCI events in your area.

Unite Adelaide Supports WYD08

Unite Adelaide is a Diocesan youth gathering that provides a common space for 18+ to discuss faith issues, & become fired up for WYD08 (and beyond).
Unite Adelaide is inspired by the vision of John-Paul II which we see manifested in the WYD phenomenon.
The next Unite Adelaide will be on January 18 (Friday night from 7pm.) At Newton Parish Hall (St Francis Assisi: 59 Newton Road, Newton)
Special guest speakers are Hilary Raimondo and Joshua Valstar- who will enlighten and prepare us for WYD08 & Days in the Diocese Adelaide on the topic of music ministry and the Mass. "A must see for all Mass goers who want to experience more from the Mass!"
Stay tuned and keep checking this official blog site for UA more events.
